The first National Economic Establishment Census, NEEC, 2024 training for field officers has convened at the Solomon Islands National Statistics Office, SINSO.
The two-day training involved participants from Honiara and Guadalcanal, Central Islands and Renelle-Bellona province.
The training will help to identify the final list of successful field officers for the Census and prepare them for field operation.
The successful trainees will go out in the field starting Monday 28th October 2024.
Interviews for Western and Choiseul Province have been completed and their training is scheduled to start later this week in Gizo.
The NEEC seeks to update the Statistical Business Register and serve as the foundation for all business statistics and Gross Domestic Estimates, GDP and SINSO is partnering with the Solomon Island Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the World Bank in the operation.
It will cover all Provinces, concentrating on covering the majority of business activities as well as being representative for the entire Solomon Islands.
During the operation, SINSO seeks the cooperation from the local authorities as well as from the local business communities within the selected wards for all the provinces within the country.
The Census is conducted under the Statistical Law (Amendment Act. 2007) and hence the business communities are legally obliged to cooperate and provide the requested information as complete and accurate as possible.
It falls under component 1 of the Building Capacity in Statistics and Audit, CAPSA project, a partnership between the Solomon Islands Government and World Bank.
