The Solomon Islands National Statistics Office (SINSO) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) fieldwork.

The survey, which began in September 2024 and concluded in October 2025, was conducted across all 10 provinces of the Solomon Islands.

The HIES is a vital national exercise designed to collect up-to-date information on household income, expenditure, and living standards, which will contribute to informed policy and development planning.

The fieldwork was carefully structured into four phases, ensuring comprehensive coverage and high-quality data collection.

A total of 106 enumerators participated in the survey — 77 males and 29 females — supported by 25 team leads (20 males and 5 females).

Their dedication and professionalism were key to the successful completion of this large-scale national survey.

During this process, 4,910 households were interviewed, and a 95.7% response rate was achieved. Unanswered households were replaced with other households.

The SINSO expresses its sincere appreciation to all participating households, community leaders, and local authorities for their cooperation and support throughout the data collection period.

The next stage will involve data cleaning, analysis, and the preparation of official statistical reports to inform government policy, development partners, and the public.

The HIES is a 12-month survey under Component 1 of the Building Capacity in Statistics and Audit, CAPSA Project, a joint project between the Solomon Islands Government and the World Bank.

The Solomon Islands National Statistics Office is implementing the survey on behalf of the national government.
